Krista's Farms Market Garden Secret

Krista is another awesome gardener in our area. We visited her Davenport Farms Market Garden at the beginning of this week. It sure looks good, despite all the rain we've had here.

One of the special features in her garden is the mulching. Krista mulches with grass clippings. She grows delicious produce this way. Her spinach looked and tasted out of this world. Those leaves are almost as big as my hand, yummy! Read more and learn about mulches with grass clippings!

  1. Thank you! I really wanted to try mulching but the thought of saving up for a wood chipper was kind of discouraging. But i have tons of grass clippings and a collector thing i haven't even used! I know what to try now!

  2. That spinach and kale looks great. Every year I resolve to do a better job of mulching and every year I don't. We've had a lot of trouble with blight on tomatoes the last couple of years and I've read that heavy mulching helps with that too. A have a lot of hay that was rained on and ruined before I could bale it, which I intend to put down as mulch in some of our fall gardens. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. You are welcome. Hay mulching is great too. Do you know the book "Gardening Without Work: For the Aging, the Busy & the Indolent" By Ruth Stout? http://astore.amazon.com/homegardenbooks4u-20/detail/0981928463
